Post-COVID Era Preparation: '2021 Yangcheon-gu Idea Contest' Held... April 19-May 14, Gold Prize 1 Million Won and District Mayor's Commendation Awarded

Idea Contest for a Happier Yangcheon-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is holding the ‘Together Creating a Happier Yangcheon - 2021 Yangcheon-gu Idea Contest’ to create a happier Yangcheon-gu for all through policies involving residents' participation.

The idea contest, held annually since 2018, is specially organized this year to seek effective policy alternatives in response to COVID-19 and the post-COVID era, aiming to discover creative ideas that solve residents' daily inconveniences.

The contest period is from April 19 to May 14, and anyone who is a resident of Yangcheon-gu or a worker, student, or organization located in Yangcheon-gu can participate.

The contest themes include life-oriented ideas and ideas for overcoming COVID-19 and responding to the post-pandemic era, such as ▲non-face-to-face public service policies in the untact era ▲living policies to prevent the spread of local infections ▲promotion of consumption and revitalization of the local economy.

Idea proposals can be submitted via the Yangcheon-gu Office website (Communication and Participation → Idea House → Submit Proposal), by mail (4th floor, Planning and Budget Division, 105 Mokdongdong-ro, Yangcheon-gu), or by email (ys0911@yangcheon.go.kr).

For inquiries, contact the Performance Management Team of the Planning and Budget Division at the district office.

Submitted proposals will undergo preliminary review by the responsible department, followed by first and second rounds of evaluation, with final results announced in July. The final selected idea proposers will receive awards: Grand Prize (1 person) 1,000,000 KRW, Silver Prize (1 person) 500,000 KRW, Bronze Prize (1 person) 200,000 KRW, Encouragement Prize (1 person) 100,000 KRW, and Effort Prize (3 persons) 50,000 KRW, along with the Mayor’s commendation.

Last year’s idea contest led to policies such as ‘Bicycle insurance enrollment for all residents’ and ‘Greening of leftover spaces to prevent illegal dumping,’ and the district expects to discover various policy ideas in this contest as well, creating them together with residents.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We are looking forward to residents’ innovative ideas that can create a happier Yangcheon-gu together,” and added, “We will do our best to reflect the valuable ideas of residents in district administration.”
