"It's not the time to leisurely debate an issue from 2 years ago"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 14th, Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized that the cause of the crushing defeat in the April 7 by-elections is not "'prosecutorial reform' or 'protecting Cho Kuk'."
On the same day, Kim posted on his Facebook under the title "Fool, the problem is the economy?!" expressing this view.
He opened by saying, "The main public sentiment revealed in this election is the failure of real estate policies and the recovery of the struggling economy of ordinary people due to COVID-19."
He continued, "The political sphere must immediately focus on solving livelihood issues such as real estate," adding, "This is not the time to leisurely engage in old debates over issues from two years ago."
Kim said, "Perhaps the opposition party thinks that continuing to stir controversy over the 'Cho Kuk incident' will be advantageous to them," but "as can be seen from the public sentiment this time, the sovereign people are always wise. They will see through all of the opposition’s 'shallow thoughts.'"
He also mentioned the so-called 'targeting' controversy involving the online community 'FM Korea' (Femco), stating, "Today, two meetings were held at the National Assembly, and I met with members of the Femco community to hear the voices of the youth."
Earlier, he announced plans to communicate with Femco users, expressing a desire to hear harsh criticism directed at himself. However, at the same time, he encouraged joining Femco on the pro-government 'Ddanzi Ilbo' bulletin board, which sparked the 'targeting' controversy.
As the controversy grew, Kim posted on the Femco site, stating, "I absolutely did not request 'targeting,'" and apologized, saying, "I am sorry if I caused unnecessary misunderstandings."
