Relief of Operational Inconvenience for a Total of 115 Vehicles Including 76 Local Taxis and 39 Chartered Buses
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeollanam-do Hampyeong-gun announced on the 14th that it will implement transportation measures using taxis and charter buses to facilitate the mobility of residents aged 75 and older in the area, who will begin receiving vaccinations starting on the 15th.
Due to the poor transportation conditions in rural fishing and farming areas, the county has prepared a transportation plan using local taxis along with charter buses to prevent the inconvenience that elderly vaccination recipients might experience from having to transfer multiple times between buses and taxis.
Accordingly, 76 taxis and 39 charter buses will be deployed to transport the elderly: taxis will be used from villages to the town and township offices, and buses will be used from the offices to the vaccination centers.
Through this, the county expects that elderly residents with mobility difficulties will receive transportation linkage services from their homes to the vaccination centers, and it will also help alleviate the financial difficulties of local taxi and transportation companies.
However, to comply with quarantine guidelines during transportation support, the number of passengers per bus will be limited to 20.
Buses operating in each town and township will have seats arranged so that passengers sit with one seat apart, and passengers will be instructed not to remove masks while on the bus, to refrain from conversation, and to avoid eating or drinking.
In particular, one government official will accompany each vehicle to ensure thorough quarantine and safety management.
A county official stated, “Since the vaccination targets are elderly residents aged 75 and older, we will do our best to ensure that vaccinations are conducted kindly and safely to alleviate any anxiety.”
