[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] In Thailand, the number of new COVID-19 cases exceeded 1,000, setting another record high.
According to local media on the 14th, the number of new cases reached 1,335, bringing the total confirmed cases to 35,910, the government's COVID-19 Situation Administration Center (CCSA) announced. The 1,335 new cases are the highest since the COVID-19 outbreak last year and mark the third record-breaking day in four days since the 11th.
The Thai government has already ordered at least a two-week closure of entertainment venues with high infection risks in 41 out of 77 provinces. However, during this week’s major holiday, the Songkran festival, millions of people traveled across provinces nationwide, which appears to have worsened the spread of the virus.
