[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Hong Moon-pyo, a member of the People Power Party, criticized on the 14th the reports of unification between Joo Ho-young, the acting party leader, and Jeong Jin-seok as "collusion," saying, "They are starting arrogant and dogmatic politics again." He also urged former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in to "stop the excessive retired king politics and discriminatory politics."

After holding a meeting of senior members of the People Power Party on the same day, Representative Hong said in a press release, "The public and party members have many doubts about whether the party is returning to the politics of the 1970s and 1980s due to the news of party leader collusion among senior party members who should be striving to innovate the organization and system and to establish the image of a ruling party." He added, "If this is true, it is old-fashioned politics, factional politics based on dividing spoils, and filthy politics that must be stopped immediately."

He continued, "I pointed this out during a closed meeting, but the parties involved denied it as groundless," adding, "If so, I cannot help but ask whether the media fabricated the unification report with false lies."

He asserted, "At a time when the People Power Party leadership should humbly accept the will of the people expressed in the by-elections and take it as a lesson for all party members, making every effort for opposition unity and regime change, collusion and factional old-fashioned politics based on dividing spoils cannot be tolerated under any circumstances."
