[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County in Jeonnam announced on the 14th that County Governor Kim San visited the National Assembly on the 13th to discuss major pending projects with Seo Sam-seok, the local member of the National Assembly (Muan·Yeongam·Shinan), and requested national funding support.
The main proposed projects include the Changpoho Nonpoint Pollution Reduction Project to remove river pollution sources and create natural ecological waterfront spaces, the Muan Namsan Park Soeup Area Outdoor Garden Creation Project to establish daily life parks for residents, the Fishing Village and Harbor Regeneration Project to improve infrastructure for fishermen, the Sagyo Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project for resident safety and convenience, and the Illo Public Sewage Treatment Plant, with a total project cost of 116 billion KRW.
Additionally, they discussed procedures and plans for the 42.8 billion KRW 2022 Rural Agreement Contest Project, which is scheduled to be applied for next month. In particular, to promote the long-cherished project of city (si) conversion, they emphasized the role of a metropolitan administrative central city as the provincial government seat and requested cooperation to ensure that the “Local Autonomy Act Amendment Bill,” proposed in November 2011 and currently under review by the 1st Subcommittee of the Administrative Safety Committee, passes the legislative examination.
Governor Kim San stated, “I expect today’s visit to serve as a catalyst for resolving major pending issues that can improve the aspirations and living conditions of the residents,” and added, “We will continue to make every effort to ensure that necessary projects are reflected in national funding through close cooperation with the National Assembly and central government departments.”
Meanwhile, following this visit to the National Assembly, the county plans to visit the Government Sejong Complex at the end of this month to explain the projects to officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and continue efforts to secure national funding.
