[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 13th, Kim San, the governor of Muan-gun, visited the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee to explain the validity of revising the Local Autonomy Act for the conversion of Muan-gun, the location of the Jeollanam-do provincial office, into a city.
According to Muan-gun on the 14th, Governor Kim met with Lee Hyung-seok, a member of the Democratic Party belonging to the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, and emphasized that the partial revision bill of the Local Autonomy Act, jointly proposed by Assemblymen Seo Sam-seok and Hong Moon-pyo last November, is currently submitted to the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee (standing committee), and requested active cooperation for the passage of the bill.
The revision bill includes a provision to newly establish that "a county where the provincial office and provincial council are located may be designated as a city" to promote regional balanced development and establish the status of the provincial office location.
Governor Kim San emphasized, "It is essential to convert to a city to establish the status as the provincial office location, which serves as the central axis of regional balanced development in administration, economy, society, and culture, and to actively respond to the rapidly increasing urban administrative demands such as the development of the Namak and Oryong district new towns."
