Jeonnam Fire Department Promotes Safety Awareness with 'Fire Safety Alert Text Message Service' Operation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) is operating a ‘Fire Safety Alert Text Message Service’ to strengthen voluntary safety management among fire officials and raise safety awareness.

According to Jeonnam Fire on the 14th, this service sends text messages containing safety action guidelines such as major fire occurrences, legal amendments, and seasonal fire prevention requests to facility managers of 17,525 key management sites and livestock barns in the province.

The text messages are sent using the province’s Integrated Messaging System (UMS) and the Headquarters Emergency Alert Broadcast System (SMS) to fire safety managers and related personnel when major fires occur or important laws are amended.

The Fire Headquarters, after obtaining prior consent for personal information from related personnel, regularly provides the text service to raise public safety awareness and expects it to play a significant role in fire prevention through fire alert messages.

Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, “Through the text service, we will promptly notify related personnel in case of disasters and make efforts to prevent secondary damage,” adding, “We will pursue various measures to improve the voluntary safety management capabilities of facility managers and raise fire safety awareness.”
