[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Wan Yihwa, a Myanmar-born singer who gained recognition through the KBS 2TV audition program `Trot National Sports Festival`, is set to present a stage filled with peace and hope at the `Gyeonggi Peace Concert` on the 21st.

Recently, Myanmar has been experiencing ruthless massacres against the people due to a military coup. Wan Yihwa, a young singer from Myanmar who settled in Korea as a refugee, cannot hide her sorrow over this situation. In response, Wan Yihwa will participate in the `Gyeonggi Peace Concert` hosted by Gyeonggi Province to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the `4.27 Panmunjom Declaration`, honoring peace in Myanmar through her songs. The concert will be held online from 7 PM on the 21st.

Organized with the purpose of reflecting on the meaning of `Korean Peninsula Peace` and the `4.27 Panmunjom Declaration`, this concert will offer a `national stage for harmony and peace empathy` featuring numerous popular singers and vocalists, including Wan Yihwa.

Under the subtitle `The Path Walked, The Path to Go`, this year’s concert will feature popular artists such as Yang Hee-eun, Ilanji, and Ali, idols like Brave Girls, musical actor Nam Kyung-joo, soprano Park So-eun, pianist Kim Cheol-woong, and Im Hyun-jung, among many other musicians from various genres.

Additionally, the stage will be enriched by Wan Yihwa and the singing troupe Woorinara, delivering messages of peace and hope.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the Gyeonggi Peace Concert will be held without an audience at the Gyeonggi Arts Center Grand Theater in a non-face-to-face format. To allow unrestricted viewing, the concert will be streamed live on the Gyeonggi Arts Center’s official YouTube channel.

Notably, 300 pre-registered online audience members will participate via the online video platform `Zoom`, interacting and communicating with the performers in an ‘Ontact’ performance format.

Those wishing to participate as online audience members can apply through the Gyeonggi Arts Center website from the 14th to the 18th.

The recorded performance scheduled for the 21st will be specially broadcast on OBS Gyeongin TV on the 27th from 9:10 PM for 80 minutes. Residents who miss the live online broadcast can also experience the stage of peace and hope through this program.

Shin Jun-young, Director of the Peace Cooperation Bureau, said, “This will be a meaningful event where residents can enjoy various genres of music and videos together, harmonize, and reflect on the significance of the 4.27 Panmunjom Declaration and peace on the Korean Peninsula. Additionally, this performance aims to comfort and encourage hope among residents weary from the prolonged COVID-19 situation. We ask for the interest and participation of many people.”

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Peace Concert was first held in 2019 at the Gyeonggi Peace Square in the northern office building of Gyeonggi Provincial Government, successfully concluding with about 6,000 residents participating to pray for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula. It was canceled in 2020 due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
