Who Are the Model Inkkobubu Couple in Our Neighborhood?

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is seeking exemplary couples who practice spousal love and serve as role models for neighboring residents.

In celebration of Family Month in May, the district announced it will prepare and award special couple awards in various categories.

The purpose is to discover and encourage exemplary couples to foster a healthy family culture and spread positive perceptions about marriage.

The couple awards prepared by the district include five categories: Baeknyeonhaero, Rainbow, Hanmaeum, Sharing Practice, and Inggko Couple Awards.

The Baeknyeonhaero Couple Award targets couples aged 75 or older who have maintained a harmonious and healthy family for many years, serving as role models for others.

The Rainbow Couple Award is for couples with a marriage immigrant spouse who understand and respect each other's cultural differences and serve as role models for other multicultural families.

The Hanmaeum Couple Award is for couples with a disabled spouse who cherish and respect each other despite difficult circumstances and overcome adversity together.

The Sharing Practice Couple Award is for couples who volunteer together and practice love for their neighbors.

The Inggko Couple Award prioritizes couples with multiple children and selects those who serve as examples in creating an equal and healthy family atmosphere.

Nominees must be couples registered as residents of Gangseo-gu as of April 1 and lead healthy family lives that serve as models for other families.

Those wishing to recommend candidates can submit nominations by April 28 to the Family Policy Division of Gangseo-gu Office, through recommendations from local community centers, Gangseo-gu Senior Welfare Center, Gangseo-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, Gangseo-gu Disabled Persons Federation, and other related organizations.

Required documents include a commendation report, summary of achievements, family relation certificate, marriage certificate, and consent form for collection and use of personal information.

If more than one couple is nominated in each award category, the district will select recipients through an internal review.

After checking for disqualifications and review by the Gangseo-gu commendation committee, certificates will be individually delivered to the award-winning couples on May 21, Couples Day. No separate award ceremony will be held to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

A district official stated, “We hope this exemplary couple award will further spread positive perceptions about marriage,” and added, “We will select distinctive exemplary couples to serve as role models for other families.”
