[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Global video security solution company Hanwha Techwin announced on the 14th that it will launch a more advanced 'Comprehensive COVID-19 Prevention Solution' utilizing cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Hanwha Techwin explained that this solution includes a newly developed 'Social Distance Detection' feature. This function allows AI cameras to measure the distance between people in real time and automatically notify when the distance becomes closer than the set standard. By setting the current prevention guideline of 1 to 2 meters as the standard distance, if violated, it can immediately provide on-site compliance guidance by linking with various alarm devices such as speakers and monitors.
Previously, Hanwha Techwin introduced several functions last year to help comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, including 'Mask Wearing Detection' and 'Indoor Capacity Management.' The mask wearing detection function can detect not only the absence of masks but also the so-called 'tucksseukeu' where the nose and mouth are not properly covered. It is also possible to connect with the audio system to play pre-set warning messages.
Additionally, the indoor capacity management function is useful for places where the number of occupants is limited according to social distancing levels, such as exhibitions, fairs, and lectures. Cameras installed at entrances monitor people’s entry and exit in real time to help manage the number of people staying in a specific space below a set limit. For example, if the appropriate number is set to 20, entry is restricted from the 21st person onward through an alarm. Up to eight entrances can be monitored simultaneously.
These functions are provided through Hanwha Techwin’s AI cameras. Hanwha Techwin stated that if customers are already using these cameras, they can add the new prevention features for free through software updates and application installations.
A Hanwha Techwin official said, "We have our own algorithm development capabilities through the AI Research Center, a dedicated AI development organization," and added, "We will strengthen our position as a 'solution provider' offering optimized solutions tailored to customers' situations."
