Daeyu Plus Officially Enters Electric Vehicle Charging Business: "Building a Charging Infrastructure Ecosystem"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Daeyu Plus announced on the 14th that it will officially enter the electric vehicle charging business.

Daeyu Plus plans to introduce the easy-to-install outlet-type charger "ChargeCon" (charger) and actively enter the charger sales and charging station operation business through the development and production of 7.5kW (kilowatt) slow chargers. In particular, it will focus on the development and distribution of home-use slow chargers under 7.5kW, expanding charger installation and maintenance businesses along with charging station operations.

ChargeCon is a smart charger utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), manufactured by Starcop, a manufacturer of outlet-type electric vehicle chargers, and was selected as a technological innovation product by the Ministry of Science and Technology last year. Unlike existing chargers, ChargeCon does not require a dedicated parking space and can be replaced and installed in a 220V outlet. Daeyu Plus explained that it is easy to install and manage, and the charging fee is also inexpensive.

To enter the charging infrastructure business, Daeyu Plus completed registration as an electric vehicle charging business operator with the Smart Grid Association in January and announced that it has entered the electric vehicle charger, charging cable manufacturing, and electric vehicle charging service business by signing an agreement with Starcop.

In addition, Daeyu Plus formed a consortium with Starcop and completed registration as a business operator for the "2021 Ministry of Environment Electric Vehicle Slow Charging Facility Subsidy Project," a subsidy project for slow charger installation, and is currently carrying out the subsidy support project. It has set a goal to build its own charging infrastructure-related service system by next year and install and operate 30,000 outlet-type chargers and 7.5kW chargers.

Starting with this business entry, Daeyu Plus plans to expand its business areas to △ build a charging infrastructure ecosystem △ provide services such as supply, installation, and maintenance of electric vehicle chargers through its own organization △ operate charging stations, calculate fees, and provide charging information services △ manufacture emergency charging cables. It also added that it is considering overseas expansion utilizing its global distribution network.
