Seongbuk-gu to Hold Dreamlight Theater Opening Festival... Violinist Han Sujin Recital at 5 PM on the 24th

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will hold the 'Kkumbit Theater Opening Festival' for four weeks from April 17 to May 8.

Kkumbit Theater, opening on the 4th floor with 320 seats inside the cultural complex 'Seoul Seongbuk Media Culture Maru,' a hot place in Gireum New Town, Seongbuk-gu, plans to stage works recognized for both artistic quality and popularity, considering various tastes and ages, to provide healing to residents whose minds and bodies have been fatigued by COVID-19.

The first performance of the 'Kkumbit Theater Opening Festival' is a popular music concert. Park Seunghwa of Yuri Sangja, well known for sweet lyrics and melodies such as 'Sunaebo,' 'To the Bride,' and 'Can I Love You,' and Nam Junbong of Travel Sketch, loved for warm and sincere music like 'The Star is Falling,' 'To an Old Friend,' and 'Somehow I Feel Good,' will perform together in the 'Together Yet Apart' concert. The harmony of the duo concert by these two musicians delivering beautiful music can be experienced on April 17 at 5 p.m.

A recital by violinist Han Sujin, who is active on the world stage with outstanding performance skills and diverse expressiveness, is also prepared. Han Sujin graduated as a full scholarship student from the Yehudi Menuhin School and Purcell School of Music, completed music studies at the University of Oxford in the UK, graduated from the Royal College of Music in London, and completed the prestigious Kronberg Academy. Han Sujin’s brilliant and profound performance can be enjoyed on April 24 at 5 p.m.

The play '264, She Speaks,' adapted from the original work 'That Man 264' by writer Ko Eunju, is also a must-see program at the 'Kkumbit Theater Opening Festival.'

It deals with the story of three women who remember Lee Yuksa, a resistance poet and independence activist well known for 'Green Grapes' and 'Wilderness'?his only daughter Lee Okbi, a secretive woman who owns a bookstore named Yeonok, and his cousin and independence activist Lee Byunghee.

The '264, She Speaks' performances will be held three times on April 30 and May 1?2. Tickets for two people per person can be applied for by submitting a Naver form survey, and detailed information can be found on the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation blog.

The family musical 'Aesop’s Fables' by the fantasy group Ddungttanji, which won the grand prize, directing award, and excellent acting award at the 2020 Gimcheon International Family Theater Festival, will also visit Kkumbit Theater. Both adults and children can move their bodies to the lively rhythm, gaining both fun and lessons. This will be a special memory to enjoy with family during the upcoming Family Month in May, when making special memories is difficult due to COVID-19.

Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “Although 'Seoul Seongbuk Media Culture Maru,' a cultural complex facility to resolve the cultural and artistic facility polarization between Gangnam and Gangbuk in Seoul, was built in Gireum New Town, it was very regrettable that there was no proper opportunity to promote it due to COVID-19,” adding, “Through this Kkumbit Theater Opening Festival, we will promote 'Seoul Seongbuk Media Culture Maru,' a new paradigm cultural complex facility representing the northeastern area of Seoul, and safely relieve residents’ cultural thirst by strictly adhering to detailed quarantine rules more than ever.”

More detailed information about the 'Kkumbit Theater Opening Festival' can be found on the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation website.

Tickets and performance information can be obtained through Interpark Ticket or by phone.
