[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) has prepared a variety of events in collaboration with the Nowon Eco Center to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.
First, on the 22nd, a special lecture titled "Becoming Climate Citizens in Nowon: The Era of Energy Transition" will be held on the 2nd floor Learning Maru of the Nowon Eco Center.
Participants will learn about abnormal climate phenomena such as heavy snow, heavy rain, and prolonged monsoons, as well as the necessity of renewable energy, and discuss practical ways to implement in daily life.
Additionally, through a solar oven experience cooking sweet potatoes or eggs using solar heat, participants will directly experience zero carbon dioxide energy and have time to contemplate a sustainable Earth together. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis until the 15th via the Nowon Eco Center website.
If you want to spend meaningful time with children, we recommend the "Environmental Storybook Reading Day."
Participants will see, touch, and listen to five environmental storybooks carefully selected by Eco Reading experts, learning about the preciousness of the Earth together. The program is designed for children aged 7 and under and will be held seven times from the 22nd to the 24th.
Registration starts on the 15th on a first-come, first-served basis through the Nowon Eco Center website. To enjoy the warm spring sunshine, the program will be held outdoors at the "Garden Pavilion," raising great expectations.
Meanwhile, the April programs prepared by the Nowon Eco Center for children feeling confined at home are also worth noting. "Hello, Beetle?" is a program to learn about insects and raise beetles and larvae directly. Participants receive kits on designated dates and follow Naver Band videos at home to complete the activities.
Participation is limited to one family per kit, and the fee is 5,000 KRW.
"Seasonal Stories Told by Flowers" is a class to learn about the types of flowers blooming according to seasonal changes and to create your own companion flowerpot. Kits can be picked up on designated dates, and participants follow Naver videos to complete the project.
The participation fee is 3,000 KRW per family.
Applications can be made through the Nowon Eco Center website, and for further details, inquiries can be directed to the Nowon Eco Center.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "I hope the programs prepared for Earth Day on the 22nd will be a precious time to rethink the meaning of the Earth," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide diverse and substantial programs for a sustainable Earth."
