Gwangjin-gu and BYN Black Yak Sign Business Agreement on the 13th for Transparent PET Bottle Recycling... Producing Recycled Fiber Clothing from Locally Collected Transparent PET Bottles... Establishing a Resource Circulation System
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) held a signing ceremony on the 13th with BYN Black Yak (Chairman Kang Tae-seon) to promote the recycling of transparent PET bottles.
This agreement was prepared to create a sustainable resource circulation environment through public-private cooperation in response to the recent mandatory separate disposal of transparent PET bottles, which has raised interest and necessity for recycling.
In particular, since PET bottles are currently being imported from overseas to secure the necessary recycling raw materials domestically, proper separate disposal and resource circulation practices are becoming increasingly important.
Through this agreement, the district will provide high-quality transparent PET bottles collected locally to Black Yak, which will produce clothing using recycled fibers made from the recycled transparent PET bottles.
Additionally, efforts will be made to activate recycling policies such as establishing the transparent PET bottle separate disposal system and to build a stable resource circulation system.
District Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “I hope that the separate disposal of transparent PET bottles will quickly take root and contribute to increasing the recycling rate,” adding, “Our small actions are expected to be a great force in creating a clean city.”
He continued, “We ask residents to strictly follow the disposal rules when disposing of transparent PET bottles, such as emptying and rinsing, removing labels, crushing, and closing the caps.”
Meanwhile, the district has provided PET bottle-specific bags to each department and prepared a separate disposal space at the collection site within the government office building to lead by example in the separate disposal of transparent PET bottles starting with district office employees.
