청, 15일 확대경제장관회의…삼성전자·현대차 사장 참석

President Moon Reviews Status of Strategic Industries Including Semiconductors, Electric Vehicles, and Shipbuilding... Economic Ministers Including Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki Attend

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in will hold an expanded economic ministers' meeting on the 15th, which will also be attended by company presidents from Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Company.


Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, stated on the 13th, "This is an emergency meeting convened by President Moon to review the status of key strategic industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, and shipbuilding, and to discuss response strategies," adding, "It is the second step to address national issues following the special quarantine inspection meeting on the 12th."

Attending the meeting are economic figures including Lee Jung-bae, President of Samsung Electronics; Lee Seok-hee, CEO and President of SK Hynix; Gong Young-woon, President of Hyundai Motor Company; Choi Woong-sun, CEO of Infac; Ga Sam-hyun, CEO of Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering; Jeong Jin-taek, CEO and President of Samsung Heavy Industries; Bae Jae-hoon, CEO and President of HMM; and Hwang Ho-seon, President of Korea Ocean Business Corporation.


From the government, attendees include Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; Choi Ki-young, Minister of Science and ICT; Kim Hyun-soo, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Sung Yun-mo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy; Lee Jae-gap, Minister of Employment and Labor; Byun Chang-heum, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Moon Sung-hyuk, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries; Kwon Chil-seung, Minister of SMEs and Startups; Koo Yun-cheol, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination; and Eun Sung-soo, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission.


Spokesperson Kang explained, "They plan to discuss support measures to advance strategic industries."
