A Worker at a Gwangju Area Daycare Tests Positive... Comprehensive Testing Conducted

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] As a childcare worker in the Gwangju area tested positive for COVID-19, quarantine authorities have launched a full investigation.


According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 13th, three people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the day and were classified as cases 2248 to 2250.


Among them, case 2250 was confirmed to be a school bus driver at a daycare center in Seo-gu, Gwangju, leading to full testing of about 20 children and teachers at the daycare center.


Proactive testing related to the daycare center has been underway since the previous day, during which the infection was identified.


Case 2249 was linked to case 1894 in Songpa-gu, Seoul, which has been spreading recently. It was confirmed that case 2249 had lunch on the 8th at a restaurant in Gwangju with case 2239, a family member of Songpa 1894.


Case 2248 was also investigated to be related to a confirmed case from another region. This person was a contact of case 942 in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, confirmed on the 10th, with an unknown infection route.


Quarantine authorities are focusing on tracing additional movements and contacts of the confirmed cases.
