[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A two-month-old baby girl with a fractured skull was found in a state of cardiac arrest at a motel in Incheon, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

On the 13th, the Women's and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Police Agency announced that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on suspicion of child abuse causing serious injury under the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.

Mr. A reported to the 119 emergency services that "the baby is not breathing." The 119 emergency team, responding to the call, transported the baby girl, Ms. B, to a nearby hospital. Upon arrival, Ms. B's breathing and pulse were restored, but she remained unconscious.

The police found bruises and a fractured skull on the girl’s body, which raised suspicion of abuse, leading to Mr. A's urgent arrest. During the initial police investigation, he denied the charges, claiming, "I accidentally hit the wall while holding my daughter."

At the time, the motel housed the baby girl and a boy who is one year older, but their mother was reportedly not present at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident with Mr. A.
