Gwangju Buk-gu, Public-Private Partnership for New National and Public Childcare Center Opening

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 13th that the national and public daycare center ‘Jungheung Daycare Center’ located in Jungheung-dong has been newly relocated and reopened as ‘Jungheung Hana Daycare Center.’

Prior to this opening, Buk-gu was selected in 2019 for the public-private partnership national and public daycare center support project, a social contribution project hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Hana Financial Group to increase the utilization rate of public childcare and address low birth rates. Buk-gu secured a project budget of 2 billion KRW, including support funds from Hana Financial Group and national and city subsidies.

Built in 1982, the old Jungheung Hana Daycare Center, which had deteriorated buildings and interior facilities, was newly relocated to a park site in the Jungheung 3 District redevelopment area.

Constructed with a total floor area of 753㎡ over three floors, the center’s capacity increased by 13 children and operates as an inclusive daycare center for children with disabilities, providing safer and more comfortable public childcare services to children.

Buk-gu plans to build a parking lot by the end of this year at the site of the former Jungheung Hana Daycare Center, Hyojuk Children’s Park, to alleviate residents’ inconveniences caused by illegal parking, parking on residential back roads, and to accommodate visitors to the district office.
