[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang Office of Education announced on the 13th that since March, at the start of the new semester, it has been visiting elementary and middle schools in the district without Wee Classes to operate a 'Counseling Experience Day.'
This 'Counseling Experience Day' is being operated to strengthen psychological support foundations and active support activities in response to the increase in students complaining of depression and anxiety at the beginning of the semester.
Focusing on small schools without professional counseling staff, the program introduces the Wee Center and how to use it, and provides time to understand each other through simple psychological tests and making worry dolls.
Student Han Jaejung shared, "I thought my worries were only mine, but I realized that other friends have the same worries, which made me feel somewhat relieved. It was a really good experience to think deeply about my feelings and emotions."
Education Superintendent Kim Cheolju said, "There are times in everyone's life when they need someone to hold their hand. I hope the Wee Center becomes that person for our students," and added, "We will continue to actively support visiting counseling services for students who need counseling."
