[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The police announced that they have arrested 657 people in a focused crackdown on entertainment establishments violating quarantine guidelines.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency reported on the 12th that from the 5th to the 11th, they conducted a week-long crackdown on illegal operations at entertainment establishments in Gangnam and Seocho, resulting in a total of 40 cases and 428 people being apprehended.
This crackdown included unauthorized operation of entertainment bars during late-night hours and illegal operation of singing practice rooms. There were 51 cases and 229 people caught for violating quarantine rules such as failure to install electronic entry logs and breaching operating hour restrictions.
The Suseo Police Station arrested a large number of 208 people, including the owner and customers, on the 10th for operating an unauthorized club by installing a stage and special lighting at a general restaurant located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
On the 6th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also cracked down on 13 people, including the owner who rented a singing practice room in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, and operated an unauthorized entertainment bar with customer service, as well as customers who violated quarantine rules.
