Paris Baguette Holds 'Long-term Store Win-Win Agreement Ceremony' with the Fair Trade Commission

SPC Group's Paris Baguette held a 'Long-term Store Win-Win Agreement Proclamation Ceremony' to support stable operations of franchise stores in cooperation with the Fair Trade Commission.

The proclamation ceremony took place at the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, attended by Seongwook Cho, Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, Gwansuk Yoon, Chairman of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, Jaebok Hwang, CEO of Paris Croissant Co., Ltd., and Junghui Lee, representative of the Paris Baguette Franchisee Association.

Through this agreement, Paris Baguette plans to fundamentally allow contract renewals for stores operating over 10 years, which previously had no separate regulations. When renewing contracts, they will use an evaluation system pre-agreed with franchisees and transparently guarantee procedural rights such as raising objections, thereby further strengthening coexistence with franchise stores.

The term ‘long-term store’ refers to franchise stores that have passed the 10-year contract renewal request period recognized under the Fair Transactions in Franchise Business Act. In the case of Paris Baguette, about 35% (1,197 stores) fall under long-term stores, with the longest operating store having been in business for 30 years.

A Paris Baguette official said, "We have entered into a win-win agreement with long-term stores that have grown together over a long time based on trust," adding, "We will continue to prepare ways for both the franchisor and franchise stores to achieve a win-win situation."

Meanwhile, Paris Baguette has been striving to strengthen franchise competitiveness and stabilize franchisees' management conditions through win-win practices with franchise stores. Recognizing these achievements, it received the highest grade for four consecutive years in the '2020 Fair Trade Agreement Implementation Evaluation,' was certified as a 'Good Franchise' by the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, and was selected as a 'Model Case of Fair Trade Agreement Implementation' by the Fair Trade Commission in 2019.
