He added, "This historic victory will have an impact on the entire golf world." Matsuyama won the ‘Masters,’ the ‘Tournament of Masters,’ held at Augusta Golf Club in Georgia, USA, by one stroke (10 under par, 278 strokes) on the same day.

This is the first time an Asian national has won the Masters. Until now, the only Asian player to win a major was Yang Yong-eun (age 49), who won the 2009 PGA Championship. Woods has won the Masters five times, including in 2019, but was unable to participate this year due to a traffic accident. In February, he suffered severe injuries to both legs in a rollover car accident near Los Angeles, California, underwent surgery, and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at his home in Florida.
