560 Local Cases, 27 Imported Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] On the 12th, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases recorded 587. The number of confirmed cases, which had surged to 700 last week, fell below 600 in six days due to the weekend effect.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on this day, 587 new domestic COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total to 110,146. By infection route, 560 cases were locally transmitted, and 27 were imported cases.
By region, in the metropolitan area, Seoul reported 160 cases, Gyeonggi 173 cases, and Incheon 12 cases. In non-metropolitan areas, 46 cases were confirmed in Busan in a cluster, followed by Ulsan with 31 cases, Jeonbuk 24 cases, Daejeon and Chungbuk each with 17 cases, Chungnam 16 cases, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Daegu each with 15 cases, Sejong 5 cases, Gwangju and Gangwon each with 4 cases, and Jeju and Jeonnam each with 3 cases.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 2 from the previous day to 1,770. The number of critically ill patients decreased by 2 from the previous day to 103. The number of patients who were declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 695 to 100,804.
On this day, the number of suspected case tests reported was 23,251, and the number of tests conducted at temporary screening clinics in the metropolitan area was 17,701. Seventy confirmed cases were identified at the metropolitan area temporary screening clinics.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team reported that as of midnight on this day, 305 people received their first dose, bringing the total number of people who completed the first dose to 1,157,255. No additional second doses were administered, maintaining a cumulative total of 60,511. So far, 916,780 people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 240,475 have received the Pfizer vaccine.
The number of suspected adverse reactions reported after COVID-19 vaccination increased by 9 cases from the previous day, totaling 11,626 cases. Among the newly reported adverse reaction cases, one was suspected to be severe. The rest were mild symptoms such as muscle pain and headache.
