Goyang City New Government Building Construction Passes Ministry of the Interior Feasibility Study... Scheduled for Completion in 2025 Goyang City Hall

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The construction project for the new city hall in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, passed the feasibility study conducted by the Local Investment Project Management Center (LIMAC) under the Korea Institute of Public Administration, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, on the 9th.

The city announced on the 12th, "The new city hall will be built on the site of the Jugyo No.1 Public Parking Lot, with construction starting in 2023 and completion planned for 2025."

The new city hall construction project, with a total budget of 295 billion KRW and a total floor area of 73,946㎡, will finalize the architectural plan in January next year after an international design competition in September.

Based on the feasibility study results, the city will apply for the Gyeonggi Province local finance investment review to examine the necessity and appropriateness of the budget for the investment project.

The city plans to design the office space flexibly to accommodate increasing administrative demands suitable for a special city in the future.

Additionally, convenience facilities for residents, such as a small library and a community center, will be provided for citizens to enjoy.

Meanwhile, the current city hall, built 38 years ago during the Goyang-gun era, was rated D in a detailed safety inspection, indicating vulnerability in safety and insufficient office space, which has been a concern.
