According to the city on the 12th, the City Health and Environment Research Institute recently signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sejong Veterinary Association and Chungbuk National University College of Veterinary Medicine for the advancement of animal treatment, disease diagnosis, and livestock product safety inspection among the private sector, academia, and research institutes.
The MOU includes provisions for the participating institutions to jointly respond to major issues and establish a collaborative treatment and research system concerning animal diseases.
It also focuses on mutual cooperation to share new veterinary technologies and the latest information, use equipment owned by each institution, and promote projects for regional development such as student internships and seminar collaboration.
Accordingly, the three institutions plan to conduct joint research to fundamentally resolve zoonotic diseases, industrial animal diseases, and companion animal diseases.
They will also share necessary research equipment and facilities, hold regular forums for research content and personnel exchange, and foster local research talent through student internship programs and private-academic-research cooperative courses.
Yoon Chang-hee, head of the City Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory, said, “The signing of the MOU will lead to opportunities for mutual growth, including strengthening expertise with Chungbuk National University College of Veterinary Medicine, which is located in Sejong.” He added, “The city will continue to enhance citizen satisfaction through various cooperative projects such as companion animal festivals, education, lake park and children’s playground safety management.”
