Gyeongsan City Reports 111 New Cases in April... 59% of Gyeongbuk Province's Confirmed Cases

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 15 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were added on the 11th.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 12th, as of midnight that day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was counted at 3,700 (including 92 imported cases), an increase of 15 from the previous day.
The new confirmed cases by region are 9 in Gyeongsan City, 3 in Gumi City, and 1 each in Pohang City, Yeongju City, and Cheongdo County.
Among the 9 new confirmed cases in Gyeongsan City, 2 are contacts related to a church where a cluster infection occurred. One contact related to a childcare facility was also confirmed positive while in self-quarantine.
In Gyeongsan, a total of 111 people were confirmed positive over 11 days (from the 1st to the 11th) this month. This accounts for 59% of the total confirmed cases (189) in Gyeongbuk. Since three workers at a nursing facility for the elderly were confirmed positive on the 31st of last month, 39 related persons tested positive by the 10th.
Also, after two childcare teachers at a daycare center were confirmed positive on the 8th, a total of 12 people were infected directly or indirectly by the 11th, and church-related cases continued with 13 on the 9th, 4 on the 10th, and 2 on the 11th.
Among the 3 new confirmed cases in Gumi City, 2 are contacts of previously confirmed cases Gumi 426 and Gimcheon 110. The infection route of the other one is unknown.
The new confirmed case in Pohang City is a contact of previously confirmed case Pohang 551, and the new confirmed case in Yeongju City has an unknown infection route. The new confirmed case in Cheongdo County is a participant of the Barunbeop Research Association in Gyeonggi-do and was confirmed positive during self-quarantine.
Meanwhile, in Gyeongsangbuk-do, 105 people (excluding imported cases) tested positive across various areas over the past week, resulting in a weekly daily average of 15.0 confirmed cases. Currently, 1,961 people are in self-quarantine.
