33-Year-Old Young Research Team Leader Appointed as New CEO of Kakao Brain Kim Il-du, New CEO of Kakao Brain


[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao's AI research subsidiary, Kakao Brain, announced on the 12th that it has appointed Kim Il-du, head of the deep learning algorithm research team, as the new CEO.


Born in 1988, the new CEO Kim holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Korea University and a master's degree in engineering from Yonsei University. He joined Kakao as a software engineer in 2012 and has extensive experience in researching and developing various AI-related services.


Since 2018, CEO Kim has been part of the Kakao Brain deep learning algorithm research team as an AI engineer. Over the past three years, he has published more than 10 papers in numerous prestigious international conferences and has won 8 awards in international AI and machine learning competitions.


CEO Kim defined this year as "Kakao Brain Season 2," setting goals to expand research on core AI technologies such as AI with high cognitive abilities and to develop AI services with significant social impact.


CEO Kim stated, "The pace of AI technology worldwide is evolving faster than we can imagine," adding, "With the mindset of a startup that actively challenges the impossible with AI, Kakao Brain will conduct pioneering AI research and technology development unique to us to contribute to creating a better world."
