Geumcheon-gu Launches Program to Train Female Sewing Workforce

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that the Fashionin Cooperative, selected for the '2021 Gender Equality Fund Support Public Project,' is recruiting trainees for the 'Sewing Workforce Training Course' to promote women's social participation until April 23.

The sewing training will be held every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May 4 to August 10, targeting unemployed women residing in Geumcheon-gu.

The training includes basic sewing education and practical sessions where participants will create more than three products such as aprons, eco bags, and pet dresses.

After completing the training, support for prototype production will also be provided.

Women interested in the training can apply by sending a text message to the Fashionin Cooperative along with their email address, then filling out the application form received via email and submitting it to the Fashionin Cooperative's email (fashionin@naver.com).

Meanwhile, the district decided to support a total of 55 million KRW in project funds to three organizations, including the Fashionin Cooperative, through the Gender Equality Fund support public project in March.

Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Geumcheon-gu is a center of the garment manufacturing industry, and we hope that customized sewing workforce training for the local specialized fashion apparel industry will expand women's jobs and activate women's social and economic participation."
