[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Harry Harris posted a tweet congratulating former Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun, who lost in the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election, on being elected as the mayor of Busan, which led to a late correction.

On the 9th, Harris left a message on his Twitter congratulating the winners of the Seoul and Busan mayoral elections. However, he mistakenly wrote the Busan mayor-elect's name as 'Park Young-sun' instead of 'Park Heong-joon.'

The day after posting the tweet, on the 10th, Harris recognized his mistake and said, "I made a big mistake," adding, "I am correcting the tweet I posted earlier."

He expressed gratitude to the staff at the U.S. Embassy in South Korea who pointed out the error and corrected his message to congratulate Oh Se-hoon, mayor of Seoul, and Park Heong-joon, mayor of Busan.

Meanwhile, on the 9th, Robert Rapson, acting U.S. ambassador to South Korea, also tweeted, "I sincerely congratulate Oh Se-hoon, mayor of Seoul, and Park Heong-joon, mayor of Busan, on their election victories."
