[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun departed on the morning of the 11th through Seoul Airport in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, for a visit to Iran.
According to the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Prime Minister Chung is scheduled to hold talks and a dinner with Es'haq Jahangiri, the First Vice President of Iran, and meet with top Iranian officials including Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, and Ali Larijani, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran (former Speaker of the Iranian Parliament). He will also hold a meeting with Korean businesspeople operating in Iran.
A total of 13 official members are accompanying Prime Minister Chung on this trip. From the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Kim Sung-soo, Chief Secretary; Choi Chang-won, First Deputy Minister; Yeo Seung-bae, Foreign Affairs Advisor; Cho Sung-man, Director of Public Relations; Park Jin-ho, Protocol Secretary; Kim Young-wan, Foreign and Security Policy Officer; and Seo Jin-woong, Political Cooperation Secretary will be part of the delegation. From related ministries, Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Yoon Sung-mi, Protocol Planning Officer; Ko Kyung-seok, Director of the Africa and Middle East Bureau; Lee Ok-won, First Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance; and Seo Ga-ram, Director of Trade Cooperation at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will participate as official members. Ambassador Yoo Jeong-hyun to Iran is expected to join locally.
The Office for Government Policy Coordination also stated that Han Byung-do, a National Assembly member and expert on Middle East issues, will accompany the visit to promote parliamentary exchanges between Korea and Iran.
Prime Minister Chung is scheduled to return to Korea on the morning of the 13th, Korean time, after completing his visit to Iran.
