Emphasizing US War Participation Damage in Korea and Vietnam... No Explanation of Causes or Background
Expecting Human Rights Protection from the US Is Like 'Asking a Tiger for Its Skin'
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] The China Human Rights Society criticized the United States for facing a humanitarian crisis by listing its war history. This is interpreted as an intention to wage a public opinion battle through the history of American wars amid sharp confrontations between the two sides following the Alaska US-China high-level diplomatic talks.
China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported in detail on the statement released by the China Human Rights Society titled "The United States' Foreign Aggression Wars Have Caused Humanitarian Disasters." Xinhua reported that the US, under the banner of humanitarian intervention, exercised military force abroad, taking countless lives. It then emphasized the immorality of the US by listing the wars in which the US participated since World War II.
Xinhua quoted the China Human Rights Society's statement, pointing out that among 248 armed conflicts that occurred in 153 regions worldwide from World War II until 2001, the US was involved in as many as 201 conflicts.
In addition, the US was accused of frequently interfering in other countries through methods such as inciting rebellions, assassinations, and supporting and training anti-government armed forces, causing serious damage to social stability and the safety of citizens in those countries.
The China Human Rights Society cited the Korean War as a representative example, referencing North Korean statistics. It stated that about 8,700 factories, 5,000 schools, and 1,000 hospitals were destroyed due to the war. It also added that the war resulted in the division of North and South Korea and caused countless families to be separated.
The Vietnam War was also introduced in detail. It was described as the longest and most brutal war after World War II. It was reported that 1.4 million Vietnamese soldiers died in the Vietnam War, and 2 million civilians lost their lives. During the Vietnam War, the US military dropped 350,000 tons of bombs, and it is said that it will take 300 years to remove these bombs (including unexploded ordnance and landmines). Furthermore, it emphasized that 400,000 people died due to Agent Orange sprayed by the US military, and 2 million people are suffering from its aftereffects.
Additionally, detailed information was provided on the damages caused by the Gulf War, Kosovo War, Afghanistan War, Iraq War, and Syrian War, in which the US participated.
The China Human Rights Society claimed, "The US military actions stem from America's hegemonic mindset," and argued that expecting the US to protect the human rights of other countries is no different from asking a tiger for its skin.
The full text released by the China Human Rights Society does not include explanations about the causes and backgrounds of the wars in which the US participated. It only lists the damages caused by the US and the US military in chronological order. This is why the alleged atrocities of the US and its military do not resonate.
