[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Seoul City announced that from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 10th, there were 179 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul over 18 hours. This is 5 more than the 174 cases reported during the same period on the previous day (the 9th) and 54 more than the 125 cases reported a week earlier (the 3rd).
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul remained below 150 for 39 days starting from February 19, but surged to 158 on the 30th of last month and 199 the following day. From the 7th of this month, the numbers were 244 → 215 → 201, marking three consecutive days with over 200 cases. As of 6 p.m. on the 10th, the number of confirmed cases exceeded that of the same time the previous day, increasing the likelihood that the total daily cases will remain in the 200s as on the previous day.
As of 6 p.m. on the 10th, among the new confirmed cases in Seoul, 3 were imported from overseas, and the remaining 176 were domestic infections.
Among major cluster infection cases, 4 additional cases were related to an indoor sports facility in Seocho-gu, and 3 to a restaurant in Dongdaemun-gu. One new case each was added related to a sauna in Seongbuk-gu, a family-kindergarten cluster in Seongbuk-gu, and a hospital in Dobong-gu. There were 7 other cluster infections, 101 cases from contact with other confirmed patients, 8 cases from contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, and 50 cases under investigation due to unknown infection routes.
As of 6 p.m. on the 10th, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul stands at 34,036. The total daily case count will be finalized and announced the following day, the 11th, at midnight.
