[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] Around 4:30 PM on the 10th, a large fire broke out in a mixed-use residential and commercial building in Dasan-dong, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province. The fire department has issued a Level 2 response and is currently extinguishing the fire.

So far, no casualties have been reported due to the fire. The building houses a large supermarket, and there are high-rise apartments nearby. The fire department is focusing on preventing the fire from spreading.

The fire department issued a Level 1 response 10 minutes after the fire broke out and upgraded to a Level 2 response around 4:48 PM. About 50 pieces of equipment and approximately 100 personnel are involved in the firefighting efforts.

Due to the fire, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line reportedly does not stop at Donong Station nearby. Namyangju City sent disaster alert messages to local residents as black smoke spread across the area, urging them to "detour around the area and be cautious of safety accidents."

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant located on the first floor of the commercial building. Authorities are investigating the exact cause.
