Kim Si-woo (26·CJ Logistics) made headlines by putting with a 3-wood at the Masters. On the 10th (Korean time) at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA (par 72, 7,475 yards), during the second round starting from the 15th hole (par 5), he putted not with a putter but with a wood. From the 11th hole (par 4), as his putts gradually missed, he vented his frustration on the putter during the game. After his third shot on the 15th hole, a chip shot around the green that slightly passed the hole, he struck the putter once on the ground, damaging it in the process.
Fortunately, he held the 3-wood for the remaining holes and saved par on all of them. "I was somewhat disappointed because the chip shots on the 14th and 15th holes did not go as intended," he said. "This is the first time I have acted like this on the course." Kim Si-woo explained, "It is not easy to control spin with a sand wedge, especially on such fast greens, so I chose the wood." He added, "Luckily, only short putts remained on the remaining holes, so I was fortunate."
