[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Kim Si-woo (26·CJ Logistics) is cruising at Augusta.

On the 10th (Korean time), at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA (par 72, 7,475 yards), he shot 3 under par on the second day of the 'Masters Tournament' and rose to a tie for 6th place (4 under par, 140 strokes). Justin Rose (England) led for the second consecutive day (7 under par, 137 strokes), with Brian Harman and Will Zalatoris tied for 2nd place (6 under par, 138 strokes), and Jordan Spieth (both USA) and Marc Leishman (Australia) tied for 4th place (5 under par, 139 strokes).

Starting from a tie for 8th place, 6 strokes behind, Kim Si-woo made 4 birdies (1 bogey). He energized the game with birdies on the 3rd hole (par 4) and 'stepping stone birdies' on the 6th and 8th holes, and on the back nine, he lowered his score again by 1 stroke on the 13th hole (par 5), improving his ranking. However, it was disappointing that after a bogey on the 14th hole (par 4), he could not add any more birdies on the remaining holes. He relied on accurate tee shots with a fairway hit rate of 92% and 'stingy putting' averaging 1.61 putts per hole.

He is 3 strokes behind the leader, in a position to compete for the championship. Kim Si-woo has participated in the Masters for five consecutive years since 2017, with his best result being a tie for 21st place in 2019. Rose exchanged 4 birdies for 4 bogeys to take a breather. 'Texas Open champion' Spieth shot 4 under par, aiming for back-to-back wins. Justin Thomas, Tony Finau (both USA), and Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) are watching for opportunities from a tie for 6th place.

'Hulk' Bryson DeChambeau (USA) is tied for 17th place (1 under par, 143 strokes), 'Number 3' Jon Rahm (Spain) tied for 21st place (even par, 144 strokes), and veteran Phil Mickelson (USA) tied for 47th place (3 over par, 147 strokes) advanced to the third round. On the other hand, world number 1 and defending champion Dustin Johnson, along with Brooks Koepka (both USA), Lee Westwood (England), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), and Im Sung-jae (23·CJ Logistics) suffered the humiliation of being 'cut off.'
