[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Former People Power Party Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok pointed out that the Democratic Party was largely ignored by men in their 20s and 30s in the April 7 by-elections, stating, "If they do not stop the distorted gender division, the Democratic Party will never receive votes from men in their 20s."

In a post on Facebook on the 9th, Lee said, "The Democratic Party underestimated the voting cohesion of men in their 20s and 30s and focused solely on feminist movements, which led to this result."

Lee analyzed, "People like Yoo Si-min absurdly claimed that men study less than women because they watch soccer and play LoL (League of Legends). Then, when faced with Mayor Park Won-soon's sexual misconduct scandal, feminists expressed dissatisfaction with the stories told and lost feminist votes when victims spoke out."

He continued, "As a result, 15% of the female voters in their 20s were taken by minor candidates. If the distorted gender division called gender equality is not stopped, the Democratic Party will never get votes from men in their 20s. They won't get them even if they give 100,000 won, offer a 40% subway fare discount, or provide 5GB of data."

According to exit polls by the three major terrestrial broadcasters, 72.5% of men in their 20s supported O Se-hoon, the People Power Party's elected Seoul mayor, in this election. Only 22.2% of men in their 20s supported Democratic Party candidate Park Young-sun. Among men in their 30s, 63.8% supported O, while only 32.6% supported Park.
