Siksalm, Chodang Corn Shipping from May... Pre-Sales Begin
Significantly Increased Shipment Volume Due to Growing Demand "Expecting 8 Billion KRW in Sales"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Siktak-iitneun Salm (Siksalm) announced on the 11th that it began pre-order sales of 'Chodang Corn' through the online platform Permeal starting from the 9th. It is the earliest to introduce Chodang Corn in Korea, and reflecting its high popularity, the quantity has been significantly increased compared to last year, shipping a total of 6 million ears, and for the first time this year, products cultivated using eco-friendly farming methods have been offered.
Siksalm is the only company in Korea producing Chodang Corn through greenhouse cultivation, allowing them to offer Chodang Corn, which is usually available from late June to early July, starting from early May. This means it can be enjoyed about two months earlier than regular products. The company explained, "CEO Kim Jae-hoon pioneered the previously non-existent Chodang Corn market in Korea, created cultivation manuals suited to domestic conditions, and focused on quality control through contract farming, which also contributed to the early shipment."
As the demand for Chodang Corn has been so great that it cannot keep up, the shipment volume is planned to increase significantly to a total of 6 million ears compared to last year. This accounts for more than 40% of the Chodang Corn distributed domestically, and the company expects sales from this single item to reach approximately 8 billion KRW. This year, reflecting consumer demand for eco-friendly foods, Chodang Corn produced using eco-friendly farming methods will be introduced for the first time, accounting for about 10% of the total shipment volume, around 500,000 ears.
Kim Hyo-jun, Siksalm’s team leader, said, "Siksalm’s Chodang Corn is exclusively shipped from early May using premium seeds cultivated in fertile mountainous regions such as Uiryeong, Miryang, Chungju, Yeongyang, and Jeju through greenhouse farming methods. We expect positive consumer responses as it is the earliest and highest quality Chodang Corn available in Korea."
Siksalm will collect pre-order purchase quantities for one month starting from the 9th through Permeal, and will sequentially deliver the products from early May. When purchasing on Permeal, 5% mileage that can be used like cash is accumulated, and new members can purchase at a discount of up to 10%.
