Unicorn Plan de Bake, a specialty custard cream cookie choux shop, is holding a pop-up event at Galleria Luxury Hall Gourmet 494 until the 15th.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Galleria Department Store announced on the 11th that desserts for takeout have become popular due to COVID-19 and remote work. According to Galleria, an analysis of dessert and coffee store sales from April last year to March this year showed a 67% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
The most representative takeout dessert hotspot is Saddler House, a croffle (croissant + waffle) specialty store that operated as a pop-up in the luxury hall from July to December last year. In a space of about 5 pyeong, it sold an average of 200 million KRW worth of waffles per month, surpassing the monthly sales of a 30-pyeong luxury clothing store. Cafe Noted, famous for its Cheongdam donuts, grew 169% in the recent three months from January to March this year compared to the same period last year.
This month, the luxury hall is introducing various dessert hotspots. These include Wilby, a trendy Garosugil hotspot famous for scones and pound cake, which opened on the 1st; Unicorn Plan de Bake, a specialty store for cookie choux made with various custard creams; premium handmade granola brand Granology; and Mr. Gu Uk-hee, a handmade dessert specialty store in Seongsu-dong.
A Galleria official said, "We will continue to introduce trendy dessert hotspots to maintain the reputation of Gourmet 494 as a gathering place for great restaurants."
