PCU Vehicle Semiconductor Shortage
Second Case Following Ulsan Plant 1
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 9th that it will halt operations at its Asan plant on the 12th and 13th. The Hyundai Asan plant produces popular models such as the Grandeur and Sonata.
According to Hyundai Motor, the suspension of operations at the Asan plant is due to disruptions in the supply of automotive semiconductors used in powertrain control unit (PCU) components. Previously, the Ulsan Plant 1, which produces models like the Ioniq 5 and Kona, also decided to suspend operations until the 14th due to semiconductor supply issues.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "We are doing our best to secure inventory of automotive semiconductors with our partners," adding, "We are operating production lines focusing on vehicle models that have semiconductor inventory and adjusting production plans according to the semiconductor supply situation."
