On the 8th (Korean time), the American radio broadcaster iHeartRadio officially announced the nominees for the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards on its social media channels. BTS was nominated for 'Best Duo/Group of The Year,' 'Best Music Video,' and 'Best Fan Army.' This is the first time BTS has been nominated in three categories at this awards ceremony.
Notably, the 'Best Duo/Group of The Year' category includes strong global teams such as Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Dan and Shay, and Twenty One Pilots, setting the stage for fierce competition for the title.
In this year's 'Favorite Music Video Choreography' category, Son Seongdeuk, the performance director at BigHit Music who choreographed BTS's digital single "Dynamite," was nominated.
Started in 2014, the iHeartRadio Music Awards is an awards ceremony hosted by the American online radio broadcaster iHeartRadio.
BTS won 'Best Boy Band' and 'Best Fan Army' in 2018, 'Best Fan Army' in 2019, and in 2020, they received 'Best Fan Army' and 'Best Music Video' honors for "Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)." Notably, last year, BTS also participated in the online live broadcast of the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2020, delivering a spectacular performance. At this festival, which invites artists representing various genres every year, BTS was the only Korean and Asian artist to be included in the lineup.
Meanwhile, the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards is scheduled to be held on the 27th of next month (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, and will be broadcast live on the FOX channel in the United States.
