Im Su-kyung, CEO of Boas Golden Care, emphasized that the role of nursing homes is to provide an environment where the elderly can help each other and live with dignity.

CEO Im established the nursing home with great difficulty during a time when negative perceptions about nursing homes were widespread due to COVID-19. Although preparations began long ago and facility approval was obtained in March last year, the opening was postponed several times due to the pandemic before finally opening its doors.

She said, "After caring for my sick parents for 10 years and searching for a nursing home I could trust, I ended up establishing one myself. Both my mother, who is in nursing grade 1, and my father, weakened from nursing her, are living comfortably here."

The guilt of not being able to fully care for their parents while all siblings led busy lives also motivated her decision to establish the nursing home. Before founding the nursing home, CEO Im worked across both public and private sectors, including as president of KEPCO KDN, director at the National Tax Service, executive at LG CNS, and executive director at KT G&E Division.

When establishing the nursing home, CEO Im focused on clean and pleasant facilities. There is a well-equipped physical therapy room and living spaces where the elderly can build muscle or exercise while receiving rehabilitation and pain treatment. The rooftop garden offers opportunities to get sunlight and experience gardening.

They also put great effort into preventing COVID-19 infections through regular PCR testing of staff and thorough quarantine management.

She also shared tips for choosing a nursing home: whether there is enough space for staff including caregivers and the elderly to live comfortably, whether additional facilities such as kitchen and physical therapy rooms are properly equipped, and whether an emotional atmosphere where the elderly help each other has been formed.

CEO Im stated, "We must think about how to prepare for aging not only for our parents but also for ourselves as we approach retirement," and expressed her ambition, "We will continue to be a nursing home that can become a community for both our parents and ourselves."
