[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] It has been revealed that some employees of Pearl Abyss, a well-known domestic game company that developed 'Black Desert', worked long hours exceeding the legal labor time limit of 52 hours per week.
According to the results of the labor inspection on Pearl Abyss announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 8th, out of 1,135 Pearl Abyss employees, about 30%, or 329 people, were found to have worked more than 52 hours per week. Additionally, Pearl Abyss failed to properly pay overtime allowances despite requiring extended work, resulting in unpaid wages amounting to approximately 380 million KRW.
Pearl Abyss accepted all correction orders from the Ministry of Labor regarding the violations. Pearl Abyss prepared a plan to improve long working hours and paid the unpaid wages, and the Ministry of Labor did not take any separate judicial action.
