Isunmi Lee, Deputy Director of the Fair Trade Commission, Appointed as Planning and Coordination Officer... First Female Internal Promotion to Senior Public Official

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Lee Soon-mi, Deputy Director of the Korea Fair Trade Commission, will be promoted and appointed as Planning and Coordination Officer on the 9th through a public recruitment process. This marks the first time in 40 years since the establishment of the Fair Trade Commission in 1981 that a female general service senior official has been appointed.

Until now, there have been female senior officials on fixed-term contracts hired from the private sector through open positions. However, this is the first time a female general service official has been promoted to a senior official position.

The new Planning and Coordination Officer, Lee, passed the 40th Administrative Examination and began her public service career in 1998 at the Fair Trade Commission's Terms and Conditions Review Division 2. In 2010, she was promoted as the first female division chief while serving as head of the Terms and Conditions Review Division. She has also held positions such as Competition Adjudication Officer, Head of the Bid Rigging Investigation Division, and Head of the Franchise Transaction Division. Last year, she served as the Planning and Finance Officer overseeing National Assembly affairs, achieving a visible success with the passage of the comprehensive amendment to the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act in the National Assembly.
