One Confirmed Case with Unknown Infection Route Reported in Gwangju...Total 2,231 Cases

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] One additional COVID-19 case with an unknown infection route has been confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City.

According to Gwangju City on the 8th, as of 6 p.m. that day, one resident of Buk-gu was confirmed positive.

Classified as Gwangju case number 2231, the infection route is unclear.

The number of new confirmed cases reported so far today is three.

Among them, two cases have unknown infection routes.

In Gwangju, among the cumulative 397 confirmed cases from February to March, 44% (178 people) were symptomatic.

This refers to cases where individuals felt abnormal symptoms but neglected them and were diagnosed late after undergoing testing.

The problem is that these individuals, before testing, were active in places such as multi-use facilities or workplaces, increasing the risk of infection spread.

For example, the insurance call center where 114 cases were sequentially confirmed in February is a case of infection starting from symptomatic individuals.

In this regard, health authorities urged people to stay at home when symptoms appear and to get tested immediately.
