[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will officially start providing free measurement services for citizens to enhance their immunity.
Gwangsan-gu announced on the 8th that it will conduct a citizen immunity measurement service (NK cell activity test) using scientific methods for 1,400 citizens in two phases by the end of this year.
NK (Natural Killer) cells are called 'natural killer cells.' The core of this measurement service is to check individual immunity by testing NK cell activity.
In particular, the test uses cutting-edge testing techniques that can accurately measure immunity with only a small amount of blood (1cc).
Earlier, on the 2nd of last month, Gwangsan-gu signed a business agreement with NK Max Co., Ltd., a specialized immunity measurement testing institution, to enhance citizen immunity.
Based on this, free immunity tests will be provided in two phases to about 900 participants in local health promotion projects and about 500 general citizens.
On the 5th and 6th of last month, immunity tests were conducted over two days at the Songgwang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Hanam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Gwangsan-gu.
Through this, 47 citizens active in the Gwangsan-gu walking club participated in the tests via each welfare center.
Gwangsan-gu will accept applications from 900 participants in health promotion projects by October and provide free NK cell activity testing services.
Applicants can apply through the person in charge of the health promotion project they are participating in.
Gwangsan-gu plans to utilize the measurement of changes in immunity levels to analyze the effectiveness of health promotion projects.
From next month, free tests will be conducted for about 500 general citizens.
Priority will be given to guiding COVID-19 confirmed patients and those in self-quarantine to the tests, and applications will also be accepted from citizens who wish to have immunity tests through the Citizen Immunity Clinic Center, which will open later this month.
Gwangsan-gu plans to help citizens accurately check their immunity status through professional testing and encourage immunity enhancement activities suitable for their health conditions.
Kim Sam-ho, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, said, "Since COVID-19, enhancing citizen immunity has become more important than anything else," and added, "We will actively support citizens' immunity enhancement and healthy lives through the nation's first citizen immunity measurement service."
