[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Dooseok) announced on the 8th that Bukil-myeon Sinheung district has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘Drainage Improvement Project,’ securing 6 billion KRW in national funding.
The Drainage Improvement Project involves installing drainage facilities in low-lying farmland areas prone to flooding, aiming to prevent crop inundation and proactively mitigate disasters.
The selected project area, Sinheung-ri in Bukil-myeon, has suffered habitual flooding damage during heavy summer rains. Since land readjustment in 1971, no large-scale improvement projects have been conducted, resulting in severe aging of drainage-related facilities.
Through this selection, the county secured 6 billion KRW in national funds and plans to install drainage pumping stations and renovate drainage channels in the area.
Upon completion, farmland and facilities covering a total of 99 hectares will be protected from flood damage.
Governor Yoo Dooseok stated, “We will continue to provide administrative support so that farmers can safely cultivate their land without worrying about disasters.”
