[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 8th that the 2021 Civil Defense Education will be conducted as Smart Civil Defense Education (non-face-to-face online education).
Until now, members with less than 4 years of service have received 4 hours of in-person training annually, while those with 5 or more years have taken 1 hour of online education or emergency assembly training.
This year, all civil defense members residing in Buk-gu are subject to online education.
The education will be conducted three times: ▲April 15 to July 15 ▲August 1 to September 15 ▲October 1 to November 15.
The curriculum includes the duties and roles of civil defense members, life rescue, first aid, disaster response, recovery, and restoration activities. After watching a 1-hour video in full, members must score 70 or above on a multiple-choice evaluation to complete the training.
By accessing the Smart Civil Defense Education via smartphone or PC and completing identity verification, members can take the course anytime, 24 hours a day.
Buk-gu plans to notify members who live alone or are long-term absent and may have difficulty receiving civil defense education notices through mobile electronic notifications and by providing education schedules on the Smart Civil Defense Education website.

Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, “We ask civil defense members to actively participate in the education to ensure regional security and overcome COVID-19.”
