[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Seven universities, including Samyook University, have formed a biohealth consortium to apply for the 'Digital New Technology Talent Development Innovation Sharing University' project.
On the 8th, Samyook University, Inje University, Kangnam University, Daegu Health College, Duksung Women's University, Baekseok University, and Busan Catholic University announced that they signed a 'Innovation Sharing University Project Biohealth Consortium Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)' on the 7th at Indang Hall, Inje University Gimhae Campus.
The Innovation Sharing University project, led by the Ministry of Education, aims to nurture 100,000 core professionals in eight new technology fields by linking educational resources of metropolitan and regional universities and colleges online and offline. The eight new technology fields include △Artificial Intelligence (AI) △Big Data △Next-generation Semiconductors △Future Automobiles △Biohealth △Immersive Media △Intelligent Robots △New Energy Industries. One to three consortia per field will be selected and initially supported with 83.2 billion KRW this year.
Seven universities, including Samyook University, have formed a consortium in the biohealth field to apply for the project. According to the agreement, the consortium will establish a close cooperation system for developing and operating a convergence curriculum to nurture core talents in the biohealthcare field, a new technology area of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Furthermore, they agreed to collaborate on reforming academic systems, jointly operating curricula, faculty participation, and resource sharing to cultivate customized innovative talents that meet the needs of society and companies.
Kim Ilmok, President of Samyook University, said, "The Innovation Sharing University will be a signal of change that breaks down barriers between universities and academic disciplines and activates mutual cooperation. We will do our best to nurture national-level core talents by jointly utilizing the human and material resources that Samyook University possesses."
Meanwhile, Samyook University also participates in the Innovation Sharing University consortium in the immersive media field. The consortium consists of Samyook University, Sangmyung University, Gwangju University, Myongji University, Baekseok University, Jeju University, and Cheongju University.
