The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Actively Encourages 'Voluntary Reporting of Speculation with Responsibility Reduction'

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 8th that it will actively operate the 'Responsibility Reduction System' for public officials who voluntarily report real estate speculation activities.

The Responsibility Reduction System is a measure that reduces disciplinary actions against those who cooperate in detecting criminal acts, including voluntary reporters. When the Commission requests responsibility reduction from each institution, the institution must comply unless there is a legitimate reason not to.

The Commission plans to fully explain the purpose of the Responsibility Reduction System to investigative agencies and courts and ensure it is considered in sentencing if the voluntary reporter is subject to criminal punishment such as imprisonment or fines.

Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the Commission, said, "We plan to actively promote efforts to eradicate speculation by encouraging public officials involved in illegal activities to voluntarily report."
